The S&S Compensator Spring Kit was engineered as a premium drop-in upgrade for late-model, high-output Harley-Davidson® Twin Cam and M8 engines to tame the torque and quiet the clatter. This American-made steel alloy spring is 200% stiffer than the weak factory original unit it replaces, delivers a 50% increase in system pre-load force and a 32% boost in torsional stiffness. Our spring provides massive torque spike protection to shield your clutch and transmission.

Beyond heavy-duty drivetrain protection, this drag-strip-proven upgrade noticeably smoothes out low-RPM roll-on throttle response, improves engine starting, and eliminates annoying startup/shut-off clatter. It is the ultimate, cost-effective way to silence a noisy primary drive and ensure your compensator retains its stiffness, even under the most extreme, high-temperature riding conditions.

  • 200% stiffer than the OEM H-D small compensator spring that it replaces. *A
  • Increases pre-load and torsional stiffness of the compensator system.
  • 32% increase in torsional stiffness through the range of compensator ramp travel. *B,C
  • 50% Increase in system pre-load force. *C
  • Smoothes low-rpm roll-on response / feel.
  • Provides better torque spike protection for all downstream drivetrain components (clutch, transmission, etc.). A great upgrade for bikes paired with high-displacement / high output Late-Model Twin Cam and M8 engines.
  • Improves engine starting. Controls compensator shutter and reduces clatter and noise during engine startup / shut-off.
  • Helps quiet worn, noisy primaries.
  • Disclaimer: The S&S compensator spring is not a fix for excessively worn or damaged compensators.
  • Drag strip proven.
  • Will fit any 06-up Dyna® and 07-up Twin Cam® model that has been updated to a 2014-up style compensator

Performance Claim Notes:

A - On Average. Spring force increase is not linear, and will vary through the range of spring deflection by design.

B - Torsional stiffness increase is not linear, and will vary through the range of compensator ramp rotation by design.

C - On Average. Tested using a Screamin’ Eagle 40100061 Compensator Assembly for Twin Cam Models, H-D 40100076A Compensator Assembly for M-8 Models
