What is it?

Just guessing here but it looks like some type of linkage fitting because the pin hole, in my guestimate, eliminates it from being a line fitting.

Looks like shifter end for a hand shift-foot clutch that is pinned to the shifter rod.... Tom (14)

WOW! Only a year to get two guesses? :-)
It is the pivot for a 1936 EL shift lever.
