So this year in Florida, I hired a Sportster fir the day and it was pretty good. I've rather come to the conclusion that for someone like myself, old enough to remember new shovel heads and old panheads as daily riders, that the modern 74ci Sportster is actually nearer to those bikes than the modern Twin Cam monsters.

I never much liked the tooth-loosening vibration, wonky handling and dubious reliability of the iron heads, I had British bikes for that.

Now I'm getting to where I could have had a shovel as my semi-retirement toy, I've settled on 45s instead.... And I think if I was walking into a Harley dealer now for a new bike, I'd be looking at the Sporties, with a decent size tank, comfy seat and panniers. What do others think?
Shoot, a man could have a good weekend in Dallas with all that stuff...

It is spelled "counseling".

Not that it would do any good, of course.

Yes, I'd have one, but only with a decent sized tank. I've always hated those stupid peanut tanks on any model dating back to the first ones. They look like a wart on a bum!

Have you ridden one? My wife had a 93 Hugger when she first started riding, I rode it a few times tuning the carb for new pipes. I'm sure they've changed the frame since then but at the time I thought the handling was weird, and also quite top heavy, especially for a 115lb girl. She moved up to a 98 wide glide and loved it for years...Mike

If I was going to have a Big Twin it would be the Evo Road King, the last of the Old School
