Fuel Rod Removal

I've been trying to remove the pin that is a couple inches down inside the tank on the fuel rod. I"m not even sure it has to come out to get the rod out?
If someone can tell me a trick to get that little pin out, I'd be grateful.

Re: Fuel Rod Removal

You need to remove the valve from the bottom of the tank to get the rod out. If it hasn't been out for a long time you need to take care when doing so as it is easy to break the valve off in the area where the holes that feed the crossover on big twins ( same valve) are drilled.

Re: Fuel Rod Removal

The bolt holding the cap on the top has been mangled too many times by a screwdriver. I might have to grind it off, then drill and tap the rod for a new bolt.
