Early FHP heads

Are the early FHP heads (1996) known to be a good replacement for original heads? any problems known about the castings, or fitting, I have a set, and the pushrod tubes are so tight to the head they are not spring loaded, they are a force fit, from clearance issues, I am considering making more clearance for the pushrod tubes with a grinder any ideas

Perhaps you could grind the pushrod tube instead.

They hit on the spring loaded outer sleeve and they are pretty thin, and I would hate to make them oval shape, These erly FHP heads seem to be beefier (maybe out of spec.) every where, hade a problem putting in the distributor base after heads were on had to grind on the bottom of dist. base to get it in, whith original heads the dist. would go in with heads on.

The Early FHP heads are designed to use the FHP cast rocker enclosures, not the stamped style OEM units.
