VL motor overheating....

Hello again.....i dont have any experience with VL`s,but a friend has restored one from 1932 ,finished 8 months ago.....
he has done around 3000miles,the motor runs/sounds great...we have done a couple of longish rides together...
the problem is his motor gets extremely hot.....thought this would get better after first couple of thousand miles...
going on a small run last week, with friends with UL`s/45`s and a UL thats also doing its first 200 miles....
the temperature of the VL`s crankcases in comparison was huge......very very hot.....any one have any ideas what could be the problem.he is not really sure whats up as everything has been done by the book.......thank you...

Re: VL motor overheating....

There have been many posts on the subject. Most problems have to do with oil circulation and combustion chamber design.

Re: VL motor overheating....

Retarded timing or manifold leaks dont help either.
