I'm looking for a PDF version of How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson ,since the paperback version is out of print and the used copy i can find are out of my price range . Can anyone help ??? Thanks Frank
Re: How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson
Please do not take what I am about to say as an insult. It is not intended as one. The author does not presently offer a PDF copy of the book and any produced would be a copyright infringment without such authorization. With all the time, effort, and research put into the book by the author, the compiling of the vast and extensive knowledge, for which the book contains, deserves more than what the retail price commands. The retail price of the book is a modest sum for the priceless valuable contents within the pages of the book. Please purchase the book, whether new or used. Watch ebay for used and new copies and place bids on them. Or.....be patient and await the next publishing. Respectfully, Pa

Re: How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson
I'm not insulted at all . I was just looking for a PDF version if it was avail. Lots of material out there as been converted or even a CD version. At 30.00$ i have no issues what so ever to buy a new copy. but at 300.00 + for a used one i found this to be out of my confort zone. I do not understand the reason for not going in re-print ??? Thats all, i've search through the net and the book is not avail anywhere other then the price mentioned. I guess i have livethat that long without it and will continue to do so. case closed. Thanks Frank
Re: How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson
not republished coz Bruce is in trouble with his publisher .
i think he signed kinda "exclusivity contract"
then ; now : the publisher decide to stop the printing coz he didn't won enough money with this book .
not enough interressant
Bruce is 'in jail" ....under contract ...waiting for his freedom .

Re: How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson
Bruce has the rights to his military book back. He was talking with a major 45" parts dealer about republishing it but the deal didn't go through. If you know somebody with the bread to publish it again step up.
His other How To Restore book is back in print again.

Re: How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson
I wonder if Mr. Palmer would consider producing pamphlet style booklets like say victory does.
Some folks just want to know the details of a particular model.
I know I would gladly pay $25-$30 for an extensive pamphlet on the 42-43WLC.
There's 7 or more variation of WLA's there's 7 more pamphlet.
The info for the exact bike your building sort of HOW TO RESTORE YOUR WLA ONLY.
Then use the funds from the pamphlets to publish the book.
I have owned a copy of The military book for many years but would still buy a study of my models for quick reference.
And I'm sure others would purchase the book after a taste of the indepth info in the pamphlet.

not sure if this is valuable
but in the latest AMCA magazine (winter 2011) on page 33 is an ad from GT motors where they anounce
"available again: How to restore your HD by Bruce Palmer III"
it looks like another cover but still the same
it also says: order by phone : 517-485-6815
or see us at Wauseon or Davenport or their shop in Lansing MI
PS: i'm not afiliated with them, i live in Europe.
hope this is through.

Re: How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson
I routinely buy professional text-books at prices between $150 and $300. This is a market price for a large, specialist book with a limited print run. I don't have the military one, but I do have Bruce Palmer's "Restore" book and it seems to be what I'd expect for a book of this sort, at this price point. Expecting a pdf or reprint at $30 is simply unrealistic.

Re: How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson
$230? I refuse to pay $30 more for the book than I paid for the bike!
But seriously, compared with the $5000 you can easily sink into a restoration these days (not 35 yaers ago when I bought my WLA) , $230 for the knowledge in Palmers books is worth it. I dont have the military book but have found his general HD book invaluable in my recent budget "freshen up" of the old girl.

Re: How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson
Is it Ok with you Bruce if I offer folks a PDF of the WLC section of your book please?
If you haven't said no by the end of this this month, I'll go ahead and send them to anyone who wants one.
Sorry chaps - offer closed.

Is this a joke? A threat? A warning?
You can't be serious.

Re: How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson
Are you addressing me helsingborg?
If you are, why on earth would you think such things.
I used a perfectly standard approach to asking.
An approach I've used many time without causing the least offence, as far as I know.
It's a system that lays the cards on the table, and avoids causing the other party any work if that's the way they prefer it.
In some instances owners of copyright choose to say nothing.
In other instances, they say fine, but only those pages, with an endorsement showing the source.
In this instance, the offer is solely within a group to which the probable owner owner of the copyright is a member.
There can be little doubt that other members will bring my post to Bruce's attention PDQ, so that he can deal with it as he wishes.
I made the copy for my own use, I find the print in the book rather small, and prefer to keep my copy clean.
Well cleanish.

Re: How to Restore Your Military Harley-Davidson
How do you get from a perfectly reasonable question to a Judge Mark?
Or do you really see me copying a section of a book for my personal use in my private workshop as a treasonable offence?

Mark, do you realise what a really generous chap Bruce is?
Do you know you can find Bruce's 'How to Restore Your Harley-Davidson' on the Internet?

I personally know Bruce and whether legal or not, I would not copy a chapter of Bruce's book for another chap without his personal wrtten approval, if for the soul purpose of respect only. Respectfully, Pa
