VL rim spoke lace pattern

I believe I know the answer to this, but does a Harley VL 19" rim have a different spoke lacing pattern than a late model Harley 19" rim. Or, can a late model Harley 19" rim be laced to a VL hub. I know the answer is no, but can someone please verify this. Thanks, Buster

I am pretty sure I have a 19' VL rim laced to the front hub on my 39 EL, so it should work. I'll check to make sure the rim is VL.

The same rims as VL were used as rears laced to star hubs and spool hubs for 45 racers. And you can lace late style deep drop center 19s from '70s Sportsters to star hubs using spokes for an 18 standard drop. I suspect 18" VL spokes would work on them as well. I9" Borrani Sportster rims would be pretty sexy on a VL!

Thanks!! The Sportster rims are interesting. I think I will try to find one and try it.

If you try the Sportster rims be aware of one odd thing. On those rims the spokes are offset in pairs to one side or the other of the drop center. So when lacing them some of the spokes go over and under each other to line up. A little fiddly to do but it works out fine.
