hi are these kk cylinders ??

are these kk barrels or possibly a good hoe tuner ?

looking at the cut out fins for the mag and the narrowness of the valve seats.

I don't recall the KK or the KHK having a magneto. I recall them both being hotrod street bikes with circut breaker/coil/battery ignition setup.

I don't know for sure but maybe they did run a mag when dirt tracking ??

KK cylinders would have highly polished ports. And no magneto relief from stock. All KK engines were points ignition.

Hi all,

AFAIK, KK and KHK only had bigger reliefs in the heads for extra cam lift clearance, no special polishing jobs on the cylinders.

In later years anyone could have mounted a Fairbanks Morse on a K or KH, there's no need then to trim the cylinders.

Which makes me thinks these are KRM cylinders since KRM and early KHRM were fitted with vertival Wico mags. These are so tall they indeed required the fins to be trimmed by the factory...

my kh type barrels are very smouth in the ports ,will post a pic as soon as they have had the carbon removed ,they came with the wrong valves installed very big heads and much thicker stems

I believe both the 55 and 56 KHK had polished ports (and polished external surfaces of heads too).

was there a different part no for the khk heads ?

Speaking of pictures, could someone show me a clear picture of the top of a k or kh barrel and combustion chamber of head please. I'm doing some surgery on a BSA M20 sidevalve and need some clues. Of course i could ask my mate to take a head off his Kh but i think that's asking too much!

Thanks Jib, A dremelling i go! I have about 5 spare heads and barrels to play with and these motors are a dime a dozen down here as they were also used for industrial purposes as well as bikes (gutless)!Any more clearer ones of the heads would be appreciated from anyone. Thanks!

Those pictures are perfect Jib, thanks . We already got stuck into some mig filling yesterday and will send some pictures of the result and opinions.We are only experimenting with cast iron heads at the moment until we get some improvement.
