47 CHIEF CLUTCH

When the linkage is disconnected you'd swear it was doing it's job. Even hooked up, it does it's job.......that is until you fire up the engine.

could the new plates possibly be warped and thats causing ,more drag,friction,vibration, etc etc?

it didnt do it before the new clutch did it?

good reason to believe it might be the new clutch?

Indianscot....you related you have .024" endplay on your hub. he is looking at close to .094". he said around 3/32". That is quite a bit. If all of the discs are following the hub away, they can't let go. Pa Pa

Sorry Pa missed your post. Miss read 1/32". When my box shat itself it had way too much endfloat caused by the mainshaft/thrust washer/third gear trying to weld themselves together. This is when the clutch started slipping, due to the outer steel jumping the spline on the hub. The manuals specify 10 thou.

Have you checked the clutch sprocket nut inside the transmission, if the lock washer for the nut is broken the nut will back off. Under the load of the transmission running the clutch assembly pulls to the clutch side. If the clutch is adjusted when not running, it feels tight, but running you run out of adjustment when the pedal pushes the shaft back towards the rear sprocket side.
