The 36 teeth drive gear on cam # 2 has the same diameter and width as the idler gear you need for a front magneto. It can be moded to add a new centre piece to accept the 2 ball bearings.
Since on KR, XLR, XR, the mag gear is not in line with the cam # 4 gear, the iddler gear needs the extra width to take care of the offset.
On later Sportster # 2 P cams, the 36 teeth gear is just pressed on the shaft. I'm doing the same thing at the moment, pinched it on a XL grind cam I'll never use...

Gear on magneto is not keyed, so move around to get timing right before tightening locknut. Finer adjustments possible later on as well since the magneto adaptor plate can be rotated by a few degrees.

2 metric ball bearings in the centre, same as KR cam ball bearings, 9mm ID x 24mm OD x 7mm W, ref 609 at your local supplier
I am making the adaptor plate to fit the FM mag that was used to mount it to the KR's and the early XR750's.
The gears and idler are available from Carl Patrick.
Andy at antique speed and machine has complete Wico vertical and horizontal mags and all the gears including the virnier.
He also is making the chain drive set up as is pictured on the previously posted drawings.
