Rear brake help

I have a 1986 fxrs-sp and need to replace rear brake mounting bracket 44205-82 and caliper 44050-82a. Mounting bracket is easy to find at the dealer and online,however caliper is history as in obsolete! i have tryed a lot of online sites like nos parts,and others. Can anyone tell me 100% for sure, no it should fit or I thing it will work if I can use 44050-87 and the mounting bracket that goes with it to replace mine? I would like to use H-D parts. We are talking big money here so no guess work please. If I have to aftermarket will be the answer, however I am not the type of rider who will require P&M or such. H-D will work just fine. Thanks

I can't help do to lack of knowledge on the 86 but if I were to do some research, I would purchase a parts book for an 86. That parts book would reveal what other earlier years and models the components would fit. Pa

I have a parts book. Thats where I got the part no. for the mounting bracket/caliper they are listed as 84 to* - all modles. Maybe I should try a 87 parts book to see if 44050-87 and its mounting bracket is listed as a 84 to* --all modles. Lack of thinking on my part,good reason to go for a ride, look in thrir book and score a free coffee.

Update: Found and installed a 1987 H-D FXRS-SP caliper and mounting bracket. I was able to use the 1986 master cylinder by using a Russell adapter 10mm bango to AN-3 on the caliper, a 3/8"-24 inverted flare 90 AN-3 at the master cylinder and a 21"An-3 SS brake line.Total cost for brake pad kit, mounting pin kit, retainer clip and above parts approximately $145.00. Works great!
