Has anyone ever tried Briggs and Stratton pistons in a flattie. I removed one from a 10 hp riding mower, miked it, stuck it in a 13 fin jug, looks like it would work in a stroker with the deck height. In the briggs engine, it is running in an aluminum cylinder (no liner) with steel rings. From my calculations, stroke would be about 4 7/8. Whadja think?

Why do I bother to ask questions, when no one reads anything?

Re: Pistons
Why bother when U pistons are available??

Re: Pistons
Having built a couple of BT strokers, I know I stopped at 4.5" stroke because of the difficulty of coming up with a stroker piston for longer strokes. I Might have gone further if I'd known the Briggs would work. Ah, the road not taken.(The faster road not taken)

Re: Pistons
I forgot to mention that the wrist pins were the same as Corvair, with easy circlips to install. Why use these rather than aftermarket Jap or Chink recycled Alpo cans? PRICE QUALITY, etc. As easy to install as Keith Black Corvairs. I have no idea on how piston to wall clearance should be set up. Eventually, I'm going to try them, so I guess my motor will be the Guinea Pig if no one beats me to it.

Evo (3.5 060 over ULH) Corvair, etc is all I have dealt with, as far as pistons for the big 80 go. What have you tried?

Please explain. I'm kinda dumb, living in a garage full of motorcycles
Re: Pistons
Can you messure bore, compression height and piston pin diameter for this B&S-piston? And engine type/serial-number might be useful.
VW 1600cc piston might work for someone too. Bore 85.5mm, compression height 39.4mm and piston pin diameter 22mm. Availiable in both cast and forged for very reasonable money.
Never mind the panic!

Re: Pistons
I have some standard bore NOS ULH Pistons if that would help.
