I'm doing the lower end on my 47 EL and am curious what cam I have. The only markings are on the face of the gear. At 12:00 is the letter F and at 6:30 is the number 1. Is this a stock cam. If not who made it and what can I expect from it. Bought it in boxes so I"ve never heard it run. Thanks

Re: what cam do I have
1. what's the lobe height?
2. is the base circle undercut?
2. is the base circle undercut?
Re: what cam do I have

I thinl I have this picture thing down. CCRe: what cam do I have
I suspect, from the base circle diameter, that this was reground.
Re: what cam do I have
I measured the lobe from the highest point to the base at 1.22. CC
Re: what cam do I have
Yup - reground. Palmer cites the original 1936-47 lobe as 1.22" tall + reduced base circle = undercut for duration increase.
Summary: you won't know what it it unless you time it with a degree wheel and dial indicator.
