Thanks for the link Tom. That motorcycle is a beauty. I have been going a little VL crazy lately. I bought a 36VLH last fall and have been searching for a few items I need to complete it. I need a good front fender and a ride control, or at least the upper and lower mount brackets for one. Any help locating these parts woukld be greatly appreciated. A little paint, assembly and wiring and this machine is ready for the road.

Amklyde, you should have bought that 36VLD from me in 83. It was about as complete as it gets. Then I would also know where it is and could buy it back.

Kyle, I may have a buddy with a VL front fender for sale. Are they all the same or is 36 special?

Woody, I wish I would have bought that bike. I wish I could buy it now for what you wanted at the time. Considering how bad my old motorcycle disease is, I have always been sort of a cheap bastard. Seems like you wanted 1200.00. How could I have thought that was too much, even in 1983? I had just paid 800.00 for my one owner 34VLD a couple of years before. A certain mutual aquaintance of ours from southern MN has a VLH he swindled me out of in 1985 or 86, its been sitting in the hog barn for ten yrs or so. We made a deal at the time of purchase for me to get it back if he wasn't using it, and I tried hard a couple of yrs ago, but he wouldn't let it go. A serious fued between him and Duane has had the unfortunate side effect of excommunicating me, on account of my friendship with Duane. Silly stuff. Anyway, if you were serious about having a 36, you may be able to talk him out of it. Send me an e-mail and I'll give you his cell #.

Thanks Kyle, but I am not really looking to buy right now. I just wanted to raz you a bit. The real bummer about that VL is that I paid 1500 for it in 81 and was selling at a loss. Our same mutual aquaintance bought it for 1000. I don't know what he did with it and he won't say.
