belt primary

I'm putting a belt on the '77 with a closed cover. I will block oiler off , but what do I do with vent and return lines? I think oil mist from these lines might shorten belt life.

You can remove the t in the gearcase to oil tank vent and reconnect with a piece of 3/8 copper or replace the line and just pull the line to primary . The vent fitting can be left open. It is a good idea to drill a couple of holes in the inspection cover for air flow as the belt runs pretty hot in the primary. Remove the return line and plug the hole for the fitting in the crankcase.
