1957 Pan front Fender

I am putting the trim on the front fender of my 1957 Panhead. I am unsure of the correct placement of the strip that goes on the bottom rear. I have a couple old photos I've been looking at but no actual bike for comparison.
Palmers book looks flush.Some I have photos of look up a bit from the bottom.
Can someone give me a measurement ?I only want to drill the holes once.
