S&S Factory Flat Track Engine?

There is a new rider coming around our shop. He has a Sporty. Papers say it’s a 79. Previous owner said it has a flat track engine in it. It sure rhumps big time.

Engine number 3 A 1**** M 9

Any idea what’s up with this?

Will check the frame numbers when he drops in again.

3A is an XLH engine, electric start, M9 can only be H9 for 1979... If OEM, frame number should be the same.

I don’t know much about Sporties. Had an Ironhead back in the early ‘80’s. Haven’t kept up with them.
