Steph,
Obviously you have an export brochure. Does it describe the 30 BAF Two-Port OHV Single? I thought I had a copy I got from Australia that described that the "Pup" got a bigger rear brake compared to the almost similar '29. My 30 BAF has the same brake as the 1930D 45, not the earlier type used on Singles and the '29D. I'm no good with Portugese but brakes are frenos in Spanish and something similar in French so Portugese could be something starting with fre..
Then we would have another advertised feature for 1930.

Fiskis I checked the brochure again, no talks about brakes...
So I looked in the parts manual and it says the singles '26-'30 had the same rearbrake as the "45 for 1929, the shell was the same. From '31 up they are the same.
1930 "45 has the same brake as 1932 C singles.
Johnny's book is very accurate on this!

Hey Johnny (from Mississippi), the 1929 models had the four-tube muffler, two tubes on each side, then went to the two-tube muffler in 1930 with two stacked tubes on the right side. You're right, both 1929 and 1930 had dual headlights........beautiful bikes back then, huh?
The rear brake Fiskis and Steph are talking about had a 5-3/4" diameter shell that was 1-1/4" wide through mid-1929 (for the 45's) then widened to 1-1/2" for the late 1929 & 1930 45's. Then from 1931 through 1934 the shell and bands were increased to 7" in diameter by 1-1/4" wide. The "new" 1931 bands had a "-23" part number since they were the same bands as were used on the 1923-1929 "J" models. This makes sence during the depression since the tooling was existng and dealers already stocked them. Fiskis, I'd love to see you '30 BAF!!!

Hi Steph & Johnny
Too bad there was no mention of a larger brake for the BAF in the broshure. The parts books I have seen so far do not know anything of the export OHV Single with dual exhaust pipes, footpegs etc. So I still believe that the larger band is original, the drum is the same I suppose. The BAF and the AAF are the only 1930 "production" models that do not have the funny two-tube mufflers.
Yes Johnny, I hope to be able to send you a picture, we are starting the assembly line any day now!
