one of the reasons i had a clue was the fact my grandfather invented and held the patent on the "chicago fm two way police radio" among other things.

he also invented the electric potato hoe, but that one did not go very far!

my uncle has gramps original drawings stashed away, fun stuff to look at.

If you are familiar with the Hollywood 20's and 30's films, policeman were known as dicks. No pun intended......that is a fact.

John, what a coincdence, I was just reading about the Chicago police radio in a recent electronic trade magazine in a history of radio development. For sure, something to be proud of.
Now that picture, just imagining vacuum tubes surviving on that back of that hardtail bike, is just short of unbelieveable.
