piston ring gap

Hey guys. Does anyone know the piston ring gaps for an ironhead sportster. The manual I have gives specs of .008" top and .008" second ring and oil control .015". These are specs for an XR 1000. (This is for my Magnum conversion...900cc.)

Vince the XL 1000 and the XR 1000 are the same bore and stroke,in fact you can use XL pistons in the XR for higher compression. You're in the ballpark on the ring end gaps. BREWSKI

Thanks for the confirmation Brewski. I have another source that states .015" minimum on the top ring. I'll stick with your confirmation and the factory's specs.
