Hi, I want to wire in a hand start lever to replace my solenoid, however for the life of me i cant work out how to do it.
I have the hand starter and relay. Does any body now how to do this?
Please help zippy
On my son's shovel I just took a short piece of spring steel, like feeler gauge, drilled a hole in one end and bolted to post on end of solenoid. put rubber cap back on and you just push on the end of cap to short the posts together. works fine and you don't need any remote starter button or relay.
i did the same as brad but be careful that feeler gauge will cut the shit out of you if it comes loose from the vise on the drill press when drilling it
I used a stainless steel hose clamp to do the same thing as the feeler guage about 20 years ago and would never go back to relay and button, no trouble in 20 years. Spike
krazy, the posts you are shorting together are the big hot one from the battery to the little one that used to come from the button/relay. The disc in the solenoid still handles the heavy current so not a lot of current goes thru the spring steel ,so no welding occurs.
