still working on my 36 project, engine is about half done. been wondering about the structral integrity of the 37 to 40 frames. I noticed that the joints are sweat brazed just wondering how it will hold up? Obviously its not gonna be used as a heavy highway bike. but how is it gonna hold up as a bar hopper? or should I just swap the drivetrain into a 57 frame I have laying around. any suggestions?

I'd run the pan & save the knuckle frame. You're likely gonna have to shim the front motor mount and top motor mount. My roomate welded a shim on his top. I use an aluminum spacer. This has to be shimed to zero tolerance, with no tension on motor mount. I also align eng. and tranny, so the belt or chain runs center. If the eng. can be tweaked a bit. center it, so if, next time it. or tranny is out, you'll have an easier time aligning. I run a belt, so using a strip of tempered glass makes for a simple aligment, to shim tranny mounts. (verically & horizontally) Sounds like it'll be a nice ride. Goodluck Frank

Has anyone taken a good look at the 41 to E46 frame on ebay? Seems to be a bargain right now but it ends in 2 days so the price will probably go up. It's item #2400456763
