Sportster Rods & 45 Flathead Flywheels

I've been considering using a Sportster rod set (1957- 80) when I fit my T & O stroker flywheels to my 45. It appears that the rods width (female) are .125" wider than the standard WL female rod. Is this a big deal and where is the best place to remove this additional material? Do I split it and remove .0625" from each flywheel half? If so, inside or outside or other?

I have surface ground both sides of the female rod big end to 45 specs and shortened steel cages accordingly. Worked fine. I have been told that evo sporty thrust washers can be modified to work more easily than what I did.

You should have just bought the T&O wheels that are already set up for that scenario. Makes it much simpler...

Rubone...I agree and hindsight is fine, but I bought the stroker flywheels many years ago. I could just fit the standard rods and pin as I have a spare set, but then again, as one of our (OZ's) ex Prime Ministers infamously stated, "life wasn't meant to be easy."

The sportster rods are considerably heavier as well and I wouldn't mind a bit of a weight reduction program on them.
As an aside will a WR crankpin fit the sportster rods?
