The recent passing of Al Knapp deserves due mention here, I'm sure those of you who knew or met Al over the years were left with a lasting impression as I was, Al was race bred from the early years right up through vintage racing with Ahrma, I had the honor of racing with Al ( mostly behind him ) for roughly the last 15 years of his racing career and it was a blast ! Al was a fine gentleman and would always take time to share advice and even some secrets, There will be a Hand shifters memorial lap for Al at Grattan Speedway , Grattan, MI , June 15 weekend, see you at the races, Tim

Thanks for posting this Tim.
AL was definitely a legend. Everyone knew him or at least knew who he was.
He was instrumental in helping me get my 45 going. I talked to him over & over asking advice & guidance. I haven't seen him for a couple years since stopped going to Wauseon & Davenport but I always looked for him & if I found him I always had more questions for him!
My 45 is not running right now so I won't be racing at RA or Grattan, but I will try to get over to Grattan to at least see the ceremonies.
