Re: NOS Brake Assembly

No shit wow...

And I got to looking at the ebay UK site, seems like quite a few of the items listed is held quite dear to the owners.

I am just glad that I found NOS parts for my WLA, such as the rear drum, and the item that Mike listed quite a bit less expensive here across the Channel.

Good luck

Mike, start looking in Holland, Belgium, Denmark, & sometimes in Italy.

.
Thanks George. Yep, with the pound rising against the Euro, Europe's a good place for Brits to look. It also makes Brit stuff look expensive to European eyes. I've been keeping my eye open for a rear brake drum in Europe for some time. Congratulations on beating me to the one you found.

Re: NOS Brake Assembly

Thanks George, yes, Larry's an excellent source, with excellent prices.
If he has new old stock in this area he's keeping most of it very quiet.

By my reckoning, the assembly would come to about 340 Euro for repops from Larry.
So, 340 E for repro, against £430 for NOS.
Seemed pretty good to me, that's why I put it up.

Especially since there's a new old stock speedometer drive unit on that assembly.
The a guy in the States asks 125$ for a NOS shaft and gear without the case.

What sort of price do you consider is about right for an NOS drive unit please George?
I suspect mine may be damaged.

My brake assembly is good enough, it's my drum that's dead iffy, and they seem rarer that hen's teeth.

Re: NOS Brake Assembly

I am pretty sure the seller is Fred Warr. Fred has been a Harley Davidson dealership for ever. In fact, he is the oldest Harley Davidson dealership in all of Europe. Mr Davidson himself once visited Fred back in the late 50's just to say hi and to thank him for his dedication and sales. Fred is a very good man and I am proud to know him. If I needed that rear brake backing plate, I would buy it just because Fred owned it. Search Warr Harley Davidson of England if you want to know more about the man and his dealership. Pa
