Re: '49 WR Motor on Ebay
That one's been for sale on there for at least the last six months. It keeps changing a little each time. Started out as bare cases for sale.

I thought drilling rods would be counterproductive. Was this standard? I thought that engineering practice went out with the Arc!
Re: '49 WR Motor on Ebay
All original WR rods as well as early KR rods are factory drilled. It still reduced reciprocating mass and was considered good practice for a long time. I have had lots of stock WL rods that were drilled by home tuners over the years. Some very poorly!

If the entrance and exit shoulders of each hole have a small radius on the corners, along with a nice finish, I would think the rods may even be strengthened as a result of the modification, as well as lightened.
