Linkert nozzle.

Hello All;
Which way around does a nozzle fit into an M88 linkert. Holes forward, or holes back.
Thanks Keith

Keith!

It really doesn't matter.
However, I read somewhere that the the military 741 manual instructs to aim the holes at the mouth of the carb, and both carbs are throat-vented to the nozzle.

I wish I had a copy.

Cotten; As always, I appreciate your reply.
Palmers does not make mention of nozzle orientation, so I had to ask.
Thanks Keith

Bruce!

I tried, too many hoops, jumped through them all, and they still want to bill me.

And the $1000 fine/expulsion if I actually use the literature is a bit draconian.
Since the Board already has a bullseye on my back, I guess I better not take the bait!

Re: Linkert nozzle.

I was told by an old hand at preparing 45s for racing that you get optimum performance by having the holes in the nozzle facing inwards, towards the manifold.
To ensure they face this way, make a mark on the nozzle tip that shows, opposite to the holes.

Otherwise, when you tighten the float bowl nut, the spring and nozzle will also rotate to start off. Hold the nozzle in position with a screwdriver blade as you tighten the bowl nut, so you can see the mark you've made from the carb mouth.

It's not crucial...

Re: Linkert nozzle.

ps If you check in the cross-section diagram, you'll see the holes face the manifold.

Re: Linkert nozzle.

Hi Cotten,

Here is the info.
"Insert the spray nozzle from the bowl end--small end first with the slotted side
toward the choke end of the passage."

At first I thought they were going to charge me, but after you go thru all the stuff it was free.
I sure don't want to lose you from this forum like "he who shall not be mentioned".
Seems like all the guys with the knowledge are getting old and cranky.
Sometime I think I'm getting there also.

Yah PA, I know. I am very glad I don't have your job!

Stay Warm,

You mean I am in trouble here too?
Time to re-invent myself I guess.

Thanks!

As a cyberveteran, I can boast that I have both been banned by, and voluntarily abandoned, more web communities than most folks ever even join.
Hell, I lost count.

So I guess that is how I learned to survive on this one.
Thursday Sep 30, 1999 1:01 am seems like just yesterday, and we were all upset about the Y2K bug.
