Cork renewing ??

Howdy All,

We build off the wall bikes out of various parts. Has anyone learned any tricks to swell or otherwise renew the cork seal rings in British pull style fuel petcocks?

If soaking in gas for a few days doesn't do it, I cut new ones from cork and replace them. It's been awhile since I did one, can't remember if it was cork gasket material, floor underlayment or whatever that I used for a source of cork. Good luck

Was figuring to try that with maybe a fair dollop of Marvel Oil for good measure.

May try kerosene (coal oil) also. Guess I’ll get some old corks out for testing and give ‘er a go.
