need help!!!!!!

Had a customer in the shop yesterday with a
pair of pan heads [1950]wants me to change them external oil,I said no problem
see ya in a couple of days. Here is were the
help comes in, how do I do this properly???

Geez! I'd be on this board with a few questions myself it if I were building the combination you write of. And I have yet to have the good fortune of installing any FHP cylinders, but I am looking forward to the new Sport Scout alternatives.
The first thing I would do is mock up and measure how high your wristpins travel. Then its a matter of determining from deck height
how close to a readily available piston you are.
And then figure your swept volume and cc your heads to decide if you are still under the six-to-one streetability barrier.
The pistons may be available from Anders for all I know, but I bet you will either use an S&S stroker evo piston, or an automotive one.
(I like Kaiser T-slots, but Egge is sold out of their old stock.)

Alex! Sorry, I meant the overhead oiling (double plugging is obvious) since the factory overhead oilers really had more hassels than benefits.

Alex! I've never booger'd any for double plugs, just overhead oiling (Doh!)

I would think you would want the electrode much higher in the chamber anyway. Won't a 10mm or smaller plug fit up there without intersecting the galleries? (Will it really be worth it?)

I, too, professionally build (and 'tune')H-D engines, but only vintage ones. And since pans aren't the high-flow powerproducers that really show much benefit from such updates (flamefront ain't the limiting factor fer sure), it hardly seems 'worth' depreciating their value from "original".

Don't get me wrong, I love to booger relics, and do it for myself all of the time. But as a 'professional', I really do consider the customer's best interests. Usually they come to regret such anachronisms on a farm implement like a pan.

Farm Implement! ouch! Lets face it dual plugging a panhead is like all of these old timers taking Viagra! Hasn't anyone told them they are still screwing 70 year old women...
Moral, What's the point!!!

My customers make all of the decisions, but I like to make sure they aren't hasty ones.
