Saddlebag mounting plates

I have a set for my '41 WL I bought several years ago; however, the lower edge of the right hand side plate hits the fender brace where it angles out over the rear sprocket area.

Anyone else have a solution to this problem? I doubt I could, or would even want to bend the brace, as it is not like a small adjustment would be enough to allow plate mounting.

I don't think adding a spacer between the plate and fender valance would work, and have never seen one in any of the saddlebag plate installation kits that are commercially available.

Not sure if you can tell from this photo, but I would appreciate any help here you have got.

Knucklehead fenders used a plate with 5 holes. Panhead fenders used 4 holes.

Thanks for the reply. I'll tell my wife you said I need to probably dump this 45 and get a Panhead so's I can mount these plates.

If I can't sell her on that, maybe someone else can tell me what I am missing, since this right hand side plate just seems to interfere with the fender brace.
