S & S numbers on flywheels

I am new here, been lurking a while, now I need some help.

I have a set of flywheels that I am trying to identify. They are S & S and have 2436-3E stamped on both wheels. I tried the S & S online catalog and Jireh print catalog, but can not find the numbers. I think they are 74" wheels for early pan. Thanks for your help.

The wheels are 4 ¾ stroke for 36-54 BT. This is listed in all the S&S catalogs in the flywheel ID chart page 7-27 in the current book. Pa

Hmmm,
The S&S wheels I have are stamped 9326-14E,
I take these to be stock 74" stroke, 1936-'54 engine year.
Got them with a basket 1940 UH motor, Pinion and Primary shafts installed!
If above -14E code is true, this motor was a under achiever for shure.

if you have picked up a BT flathhead with S&S wheels ( and presumably the rebuild that put them there ) for a reasonable price, and you have a use for it, don't be TOO disappointed.....

-14E flywheels 3-31/32 stroke, UL uses 4-9/32 stroke. This is disappointing.
I got no use for these -14E wheels.

But either:
1. S&S did not understand the application (the wheels would have been not only the correct stroke, but marked "EX" indicating OD reduced to 8.25")
2. the DPO "was told" (the father of all lies) that they were either correct, or "would make it last longer by reducing the compression" (yes, this nonsense is still repeated by each successive generation of bobble-heads), and never tried to install them (the OD won't clear the scraper)
3. the DPO knew they wouldn't fit - and you inherited it

Not only is it a flying pain to reduce the OD (1940 cases need 8.3125", 1937-39 cases need 8.28125"), but you will have no squish at all and 4:1 compression. Sell them.

Well, it's certainly good news for the lucky person who buys them from Don, who will be doing both a favor and getting a bargain.
A lot of shops won't assemble a lower end unless they take the original wheels apart themselves - too many egged and stretched tapers, keyways moved over, hammer marks from truing without the proper maul, and you only find out they won't tighten up or won't true after you have a lot of hours on the bill - and then who wants to tell the customer he has to pay for the work so far, and still needs to replace the wheels?
