It doesn't matter where the parts come from. I simply like the look of the HD BT gearbox.
Of course it has no advantages compared with a "modern" lightweight brit box. But these arn't to my taste.
I've paid an used adjustable transmission plate and the fabrication of the pulley mount to fit the 45 sprocket shaft. The rest I tried to build by myself.
I think this is not much more than you would pay for an english assembly.

I'm intrigued with the idea that you can get a Big Twin gearbox and clutch, in any condition, for the price of a British unit. That's certainly not valid in UK
Last BSA gearbox I bought cost me 50GBP on ebay and it cost about the same again in bearings to recondition. I bought a Norton gearbox in very good shape and a clutch to match for around 400 GBP; for an HD BT unit you can multiply that by at least 5, and I don't remember when I last saw saw one offered at all.

Funny.......looks like the same Paughco frame and belt drive that V-Twin has on page 758 of the 2009 catalog.......

those pics certainly show that offset off well, cut down primary cover in my opinion is going to look hidieously(s"^t) huge and ugly .jib

Cosmetic wise, I don't care for the mass ratio between the 45 engine and the big twin gear box. It just looks clumpsy to me. Pa

Well, at least with this new frame option for the 45s, there will finally be a use for all those "cheap" Big Twin trannies that have been laying around gathering dust.
