shift pattern SS or 741

Question, on a 741 or SS, when the lever that comes out of the tranny is all the way up (in the tranny/motor mount plates) is this high or low? thanks! Also anybody know which way a HD (gasp!) generator turns? Thanks again

All the way up is high gear.
