Carb !?

Hello guys

I need some help here, mabey you guys could kick in some ideas.
I just got my first Indian after ten years of dreaming about it ....yeah !!
It´s a 41 Chief just as I wanted, leafspring and big fenders.
It´s a project , but its mine !! I need to find a good carb for it, and I think
I will prefere an old fasion one . I´m allready the lucky owner of an 37`Knuckle witch is my dayli driver so is fitted with a modern carb,ignition bla bla. So I guess it could be cool with a stock Chief.
BUT ..... it seems to be hard to find the stock carb, and when you find them they tend to be a bit expencive ( in my part off the world anyway)
What harley 3 bolt Linkert would work ?
Should I considder a modern carb ? witch one in that case ?
I have a couple of m88 laying around the shop, but I guess they are to small ?

I'm sure you are going to get a lot of response to your question.What may also help you to decide on the right carb is to order the Linkert book from Victory Library.You will find it very helpful.

The correct carb is an M-341, but it isn't very common.

Nearly any 1 1/4" Linkert can be put to the same specs, and still preserve the machine's vintage character; M-88s are the most common and economical.

I run a M88 on my 1940 Chief, no problem at all.
You can modify it by replacing the venturi by a larger one and fit a high speed needle in place of the fixed main jet (fit a plug or let it). You can change the nozzle too.

As zooma said the Linkert book sold by Victory Library is very helpfull, lot of informations and modifications inside.
