New rods?

I´m rebuilding my 47-Chief engine and thinking of stroking it to 80" with Kiwis
flywheels.
The question is if I need to change my stock
conecting rods(they are fine)to heavy duty
ones?
Any opinion?

I used their flywheels to go to 80", and my rods were in poor shape so I used their rods. Man the difference in strength is immediatly apparent. I'm going to build an 84" for myself (that one was a customer's) in the next six months, and I won't even think of using the stock rods. You need to clearance the crankcase baffles under the cylinders a tiny bit but other than that it's a shoe-in. Be aware that when you order the rods they don't come with the bushings or races installed unless you specify. I installed mine and they lapped round quickly....good luck.....jb

Yes I did, and they were a quality product, and seemed to be about 100 times stronger. The rods on that Chief were twisted bent and so egged that new races wouldn't even begin to work, the only way would have been to rotate the used races, and I went for the good rods......don't regret it at all......jb
