I'm kinda suspect of anything that comes out of The Peoples Republic of California anyway.

I saw a new Chief at the Tulsa Dealership yesterday, a friend of mine works there and told me the engines are built by Rousch Racing in N.Carolina. He knew that because they had called the dealership and said not to start it as some of them had been sent out without the wrist pin clips installed. So they are off to a grand start!

Wow! new engines that need to be rebuilt before starting.

I've had a few "rebuilt engines" from the local HD shop that I had to rebuild before installing them in the frame.

The 4 speed tranny's for the old Indian chief are from Australia or New Zealand. I think they go for around $4500, the case bolts up to the old style Indian cases. This is the same trans "the Shop" used in thier record setting chief at bonneville. They fit 1940 to 1953 (or 55). I believe they are 4 speed synchro but not sure.

Too bad they ain't Indians. Just bought up paperwork (can't remember how many millions of dollars, don't give a damn), built a bunch of clown (clone) bikes, Made some dupe $ and had 45 degree engines built NOW. Never will be in my book, an Indian. Just a "indian" to me, along with the enfields, velocettes, italo's, and taiwans. Springfield was the last of the Indians.

4 speed is not synchromesh, it's constant mesh (no sliding gears). More info here: http://www.chief-overdrive.com/index.html
