scout 45' lifters

i am working on a 45" scout engine and removed the lifters without marking them or paying attention, now i find there are 2 short and 2 long sizes, what length goes in exhaust and what to intake ??? any help is appreciated.

Its been years, and my books aren't handy, but I believe the long ones go to the front cylinder, and short to the rear.
But don't trust my memory.

Cotten's memory is correct. If you put them in wrong it would be immediately evident.
