Indian tanks

it seems I have a leak at my tank which needs a repair. Were the Chief tanks in 1947 soldered or already welded?

yes still soldered.Is your tank leaking at a soldered seam? If so you should be able to clean out all gas and fumes and resolder the area.I have tried epoxies and never had that work for long.I would only use the epoxies to get home and then resolder.

Use a large soldering iron (150-300 watts) to resolder your tanks. The heat is much more even and controlable than a flame and doesn't have the same explosion risk.

thanks. I found someone who is specialised in tank restoration. He even can remove the old shitty coating which is inside the tank. So, some last tests before, then sending the tanks to the guy and then mothballing the bike for the winter.
