Latest '36 Knucklehead????

Gotta love it.
Kinda makes me want to re chop my 1945 resto. There's a switch, owned my knuck for over 30 years. Was stock when I got it tore off all the stock crap chopped the hell out of it stroked the crap out of it then 20 years later buy all the stock parts back and restore it. Now go and chop it again NAH I'll just build another one after I finish the flatboy.

As far as the correct crowd, if the can't appreciate a nice scoot the hell with them. I love going to antique meets on my Knuck with a couple of freinds. One has a 54 Pan bobber and the other has a 47 Knuck chopper and watch them crindge. And of course most of them don't pick up on the incorrect parts on my knuck. Another good time is to go for a ride with the correct crowd that is if they dare ride their bike. They allways ask if I ride my knuck that fast all the time. Well it was built to ride not to be trailered, I ride it to the meets, I ride it all over the area when we get there. If you can't or wont ride it why have it? Unless it is a very rare or irreplacable bike.

My 36 is 36EL2356. The number on my hill climber motor is 36EL2600. The highest 36 that I am familiar with belongs to Jim Mclean and it is 2800 or 2900 and something. Jerry

Here's a flip. Acording to Herbert Wagner's book "Harley-Davidson 1930-1941" The first registered 61 ohv's were in the 36EL1200-1300 serial number range. The lower 36EL1000-1100 range was held back and released later possibly for repairs. Also they had the valve cups and return lines on them.

A little more reading into the covers. That first run of EL's were held back so as to install the covers. That would mean the production run between 1000 and 1100 didn't have covers. They just didn't make it out the door. And as you said, sold to the public.
