Linkert float bowl

I just went thru my Linkert, and have some gas seepage from the bowl nut. I used a new copper washer, with the split side to the bowl. There is some pitting around the bottom hole. Does anyone have a "fix" for sealing the bowl and nut?

I merely grind the pits out on a disc sander to leave a flat sealing surface. If they are too deep, I fill them first with J-B weld. (I put the split of the crush washer out towards the nut, although it probably makes no difference.)
