Distance to frame

Hi guys,
Anyone that can measure the distance between
the frame and the rear ex. tin.
Need it for construction work on the new tins
and don´t have a bike here to check on.

mine measures approx .278" from the frame to the closest point on the tin.
frame is 46, motor is 47, barrels are reproduction, heads are 47, and the tins are 47, frame was modified in the 60's but not raked or stretched doent mean it was'nt ran over but appears to be fairly straight by ruler

You need a mule mi amigo

Anders! This distance can vary widely, as the hisory of each frame can make a difference: Straightening a '41-'46 frame once caused a 3/16" interference for me. I commonly have to relieve something for installation of the rear head on Knucks (and Pans too), particularly if the frame has been powdercoated. At times I have only been able to leave .060" clearance, yet this seems adequate, as the members usually flex in opposite directions.
