Does anyone know why the center bolt holding the dash cover (47 up) is hollow ?

To allow use of the accessory Dash choke control. If you look into the center bolt it has a reverse spiral cut into it. A control coil casing threads into it. The dash choke wasn't too popular but the center stud remained hollow throughout its life.
