What is it ? Front Mtr. Mnt. nut & Lck. Wshr.

What is it and what's wrong with one of the parts? It's a newer version of an old OHV part number. If there is an answer it's either me or the part that's wrong.

Plumber iff you are refering to24797-36 used by OHV andBt SV the nut is missing the pointed pinched on washer with the hexagon hole, to prevent the nut from turning instead off having to take off the generator to reach the nut with a spanner.
I think nobody ever reproduced this nut correctly completed, must not be that complicated to do...but apparently no manufacturer cares!

(24800-36) seems to be a thin, concave spring-steel washer that went under the nut. (24800-36) is obsolete. I'll motor over to http://nosparts.com/ and see what they have. The OEM (24979-36) nut and washer seem to be one-piece, where the nut was dropped into the crankcase and then the bolt was then turned into the fixed-positioned nut. The '41-57 cases have the same hollow cavity for the nut and lock washer.

I found one in the "Knuckle" crate. We still need the 24800-36 concave spring washer. I measure that it's 5/8 x 3/8 x 1/32".

24800-36 motor bolt lockwasher is meant to keep the right bolt from turning loose as it has no cotter pin like the left.It's put between the bolt and the skidplate.

That's good to know. I'll post a pic of the washer when I get one from nosparts.

A manufacturer is considering making the (24800-36) lock washer. They're sending me one. An ordinary lock washer would work, but not as a correct restoration. An ordinary lock washer would gall the skid plate every time you tightened the bolt. We'll post a pic when the lock washer arrives, unless someone has one. By all means, post it.

Either nut will work. This is the replacement for the (24800-36) lock washer. The tab is bent over against the head of the bolt once the bolt is tightened. Available in all the Colony motor mount kits or separately by the (24800-36) part number.


Colony has a seal removal/installer that matches the counterbores on OEM and Colony '55-up motor seals (counterbores spaced 2" apart). The C.C.I. seals have counterbores spaced 2-1/16" apart and use a JIMS installer/remover wrench that looks similar.

The 3/-24 stud installer is affordable and essential to installing 1/2" (rolled thread) x 3/8- pitch thread transmission studs. Use Loctite 640 retaining compound on the rolled threads. Let dry overnight.
