4 speed 45 trannys

did they ever make a 4 speed transmission for a 45 cubic inch solo bike?? I have a Harley "data" book that says they did but all my technical literature only mentions 3 speeds

Re: 4 speed 45 trannys

Short answer is NO. The first ever 4 speeds were an option for the last of the VLs, first standard 4 speeds were in '36 knuckleheads. 45s used a three speed from their inception in '29 to the last servi-cars in '73. And the 3 and reverse is not considered a 4 speed for road use.
