Motor paint on a servicar

Hi everyone, Im rebuilding motor and trans for a 1970 sevicar. Machine has been laying dormant in a barn for 30 years after being purchased at auction from a police department in the mid west or so the story goes. What sort of paint job should this engine have. Currently heads barrels and cases are painted silver. Im not aware of cases being painted silver on any older vtwin models. My palmers book only covers up to about 64 for three wheelers. Maybe this is a paint job applied a police department that used the bike. What do the experts say? thanks, Bill

Don't know what lokal police department ordered, police over here never rode servicars or any other Harleys
I would get the hole thing bead blasted, - stripped the paint off. Keep the cases natural, and black engine enamel on the barrels.

I have seen a late 60's police Servi that had the entire engine painted with aluminum paint. It was supposedly bone stock.

I remember as a kid, the motors on all the police servi's were silver.....down to the hardware.
