Hi I just bought this bike clutch is dragging put in gear lunge forward I have to move bike forward to shift into 1st the bike has not run in 3 years started all good, how do I adjust cable the cable, has a good bit of play. the lever should be 1/16 " from stud, where is the stud on the sprocket cover ,the lever should pull in allmost all way in correct any help would be great Thanks

Since bike has been sitting so long, I would start with the clutch basket assembly. The driven and driving plates most likely are stuck together. Once you clean the plates all up and re-adjust the clutch spring lengths, you do the cable adjustment last. Pick up a service manual from your local HD dealership or from one of the hundreds of other vendors who supply them. A service manual is a must for any owner and will walk you through the procedure easily.

hi thanks I am disabled so I was hoping it would not be such a big job, got a friend to help I took apart stuck together clutch disengages now. Thanks I think the clutch adjustment screw needs adjustment it seems to have a lot of play at the lever I adjusted as the book said 1/2 turn I still have to move it a bit to get into first gear, it shifts smooth when in right spot also have to tighten rear chained the front chain seems tight to the finger test any advice would be great . thanks again , Bronx 238st

To loosen the front chain you have to move rear axle forward so rear chain is not too tight. Rear axle has axle adjuster on each side. Loosen rear axle, adjust front chain by moving tranny. After getting front chain right, adjust rear chain by moving rear axle.
