dash switches

looking to replace the dash panel ignition switches on my khk 56. a fellow on ebay had his buddy make some switches that according to the description would work for this application. i'm posting the following description from the ebay auction from a couple of week ago:

A set of custom made K Model and Early Sportster (57 and 58) replacement light and ignition switches to replace the nearly impossible to find Briggs and Stratten originals manufactured only for over Harley 50 years ago. An automotive electrical restoration specialist friend selected a suitable replacement switch based on fit (size) and function and fabricated the left and right brackets and I have a spare set. Although the originals had three terminals, they, according to the wiring diagram were basically a power in and power out, so these two terminal replacements are functionally acceptable.[/b]

my question is this...on page 266 of the vol 4 j&p vintage catalog, there are sportster switches for around sixteen bucks$$$$$. would these work for my application? they look very similar to the ones that were fashioned by the ebay fellow. the ebay switches went for $138.

Had a look at the switches on ebay, can't comment much as their suitability.

However, as I remember the originals on both my KK, now gone, and my KHK, switches sold ages ago, they are both the same. Ignition use only two positions, but lights need the three as there was a parking position that only lights the rear. From memory, don't quote me on that, off in the centre, parking on left, normal lights on right. Ignition, off in the centre, on either on right or left...

Still looking for a workable solution. Can anyone help?

I used Morris Minor ignition switches, but they are only two position not allowing for park position and fabricated my own mounting brackets and using early sixties Ford Falcon doorlock covers!! Not really relevant for you as i doubt you would have any Morris cars there!!
