Regulator on 52k

Hi i have a regulator on a 52k 2 brush generator the regulator is one of these new ones is it supposed to make a buzzing sound when the ignition is on? the contacts on the battery side are ment to be closed when no power an the other side are meant to be open this is a diffrent setup vs the factory ones in the fortys. Please let me know what you think

Doesn't sound right to me. Seems like you may have some wires switched. The cutout points shouldn't close till the generator is running I would think. Maybe the generator/ battery connections are reversed? Been awhile since I played with mechanical regulators.
