KH or KHK

Does anybody know the difference between KH cylinders / heads and KHK cylinders / heads? And how to identify them? I have a '56 KHK with pretty screwed up cylinders and am considering putting some other KH's I have on it. But if the cylinders that came off it are KHK and worth the effort I might repair them. The parts book lists different part numbers but I've compared and I can't see much difference. Any thoughts?

KHKcylinders have polished ports,and KR size valves. I used to own 3 KHK complete engines,still have a spare set of KHK cylinders. brewski

That is true,the obvious difference is in the base flange. BREWSKI

khk and kh are both the long stroke motors. so cylinder length would be the same correct?

I think only difference between KH/KHK cylinders is polished ports and combustion chamber.RUB-BOY

As I recall from my 55 KHK and what the old timers told me when I owned her. Polishing was really the only differences between the two. The KHK was polished everywhere flow restriction could be a factor, from intake, to cumbustion chambers, to exhaust. I almost positive on this. "Almost" Pa

yes kh and khk cyl. same. polished on khk not kh. heads same u can use kr heads they help a lot. when u install heads try to bring to kr specs

KH ports can use a LOT of cleaning up. Mine had a lot of really rough spots; cleaning up and polishing only took a couple of hours. Was worth it. G
